The history & background of Kinshasa Reformed Baptist Church
Kinshasa Reformed Baptist Church is part of the Reformed Baptist Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This is the fruit of Pastor Mike Musafiri who has interned at Kabwata Baptist Church located in Lusaka/Zambia from January to December 2023.
Mike has served nine years as a lay person within his former conservative Baptist Denomination known as Community of Baptist Churches of Eastern Congo, found in 1928 by American missionaries and located in the Eastern part of the Country, to the position of Director of Aid and Development Ministry.
He heard the call for ministry in 2017 and embarked into this journey starting by enrolling in Theological studies from scratch at African Bible University in Kampala/Uganda whereby he earned a bachelor's degree in theology with concentration in Christian Community Leadership (Major) and Communication (Minor) in 2021.
He joined again the African Reformation Theological Seminary in order to pursue his Master of Arts in Pastoral Leadership, but he soon quitted his studies when he was admitted for Pastoral internship at KABWATA BAPTIST CHURCH in Lusaka/Zambia for the 2023 intake.
This internship enabled him to reconcile the theories he earned from theological studies and practice, enabling him to plant a Reformed Baptist church from scratch.

Pastor. Mike Musafiri
Reformed Baptist Missionary & Church planter in the Democratic Republic of Congo
After completion of his internship, KABWATA BAPTIST CHURCH is in process of ordaining him and sent him in his own Country (Democratic Republic of Congo) to plant from scratch a Reformed Baptist Churches, given that his call for ministry is in Congo for the moment.
Hence, the first Reformed Baptist Church that Mike is currently planting, during this hectic mission is located in Kinshasa, under the name of Kinshasa Reformed Baptist Church. Strategically, Mike is planning that the Reformed Baptist mission may start firstly in Kinshasa, the capital city of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and then expand the work in different provinces of the Country, as long as opportunities are opened. Kabwata Baptist Church's Elders
Kabwata Baptist Church, is a Reformed Baptist Church located in Lusaka/Zambia. It was planted by Lusaka Baptist Church (LBC), in the year 1981. The pastor of Lusaka Baptist Church at that time was Joe Simfukwe. He was working with Cephas Yandila, Gabriel Mutale, and Joshua Kekana as elders. The first church service took place in Kabwata Community Hall on 8th March 1981. This was preceded by an aggressive door-to-door outreach in the Kabwata area. The work took longer to get established. At one time, LBC wanted to withdraw and consider the effort unsuccessful, except for some individuals who vowed to continue the work until it stabilised. When Alfred Nyirenda returned from England after his theological studies, he provided leadership for a short time. Door-to-door work remained the main form of evangelistic work. By January 1986, the new church had covenanted together into Kabwata Baptist Church. For more info visit KBC's website

PhD. Conrad Mbewe
Pastor of Kabwata Baptist Church Lusaka/Zambia
KBC has sent several missionaries across the country and in Africa. It has developed a New Testament model of a healthy planted church, which enables most of indigenous pastors to carry out the work from scratch, by adjusting it according to their local context. This prototype is what interns learn during their one-year internship program at Kabwata Baptist Church. Hence, as stated earlier, Mike has completed this one-year internship at Kabwata Baptist Church, empowering him to start the Reformed Baptist mission station in DRC.
Conrad Mbewe has served as pastor of Kabwata Baptist Church in Lusaka, Zambia, since 1987. KBC is presently overseeing the establishment of about 20 new Reformed Baptist churches in Zambia and other African countries. Mbewe also maintains an itinerant preaching ministry in different countries around the world and is the editor of Reformation Zambia magazine. He has written about 40 booklets in Africa and four books that have been published internationally, including Foundations for the Flock, God's design for the church, and so on.

A glance on the Reformed Baptist mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo

It is a movement that aims to plant reformed Baptist Churches across the country, and impact the lives of people through an holistic approaches. The traditional Baptist denominations existed, some before or after 1920's. Unfortunately, many of them are losing the quintessence of Baptist faith by embracing some of the charismatic doctrines.
However, Reformed Baptist mission in DRC is striving to stay, Creedal, Confessional, Covenantal, Calvinistic (including TULIP and the Five Solas), Christ-centered, Commandment keeping, Cessationist, and adopted a reformed Regulative Principals. And as Baptist, we are credo-baptist, congregationist and complementarist. We continue to cling on the "Ecclesia reformata semper reformanda" principal in the sense that we will always be reformed.
Our Confession of Faith
Kinshasa Reformed Baptist Church adopts the Baptist Confession of Faith as it is stated in the London Baptist Confession of Faith 1689.
We believe:

1. In the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments in their original autographs as fully inspired of God and inerrant and accept them as the supreme and final authority for faith and life.
2. In one God eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. That Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary and is true God and truly man.
3. That man was created in the image of God, that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death which is separation from God and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature and are guilty before God.
4. That the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins, a substitutionary sacrifice, according to the Scriptures and that all who believe in Him are justified on the grounds of His shed blood.
5. In the bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, His ascension into heaven and His present life as our High Priest and Advocate.
6. In the personal and imminent return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
7. That all who receive the Lord Jesus Christ by faith are born again of the Holy Spirit and are thereby made children of God.
8. In the bodily resurrection both of the just and unjust; the eternal blessedness of the redeemed in the presence of God, and the eternal damnation into hell of those who have rejected the offer of salvation.
9. That the one true church of our Lord Jesus Christ as distinguished from the state is the whole company of those who have been redeemed by Jesus Christ and regenerated by the Holy Spirit, that the local church on earth should take its character from the conception of the church spiritual and, therefore, that the new birth and confession of Christ are essential to church membership.
10. That the Lord Jesus Christ appointed two ordinances, baptism and the Lord’s supper, to be observed as acts of obedience and as perpetual witnesses to the cardinal facts of the Christian faith. That baptism is the immersion of the believer in water as a confession of identification with Christ in burial and resurrection and that the Lord’s Supper is the partaking of bread and wine symbolizing the Savior’s body and blood in remembrance of His sacrificial death until He comes again.
11. In the priesthood of all believers.
12. In the indwelling and work of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer and in the church.
